Shields couple note 60th date
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shields of Jerome have noted their 60th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Shields and the former Euldean Reckner were married Oct. 22, 1949, at the home of the bride’s parents in Jerome by the Rev. Charles Coller. This was his first wedding ceremony after becoming a licensed minister for the Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Shields was born in Windham Falls, Ohio, son of the late Carl and Katherine (Kennel) Shields.
Mrs. Shields was born in Jerome, daughter of the late Harry and Ada (Shroyer) Reckner.
Mr. Shields retired after 28 years’ service from the Bar, Rod and Wire Division, Johnstown Plant, Bethlehem Steel Corp.
Mrs. Shields retired after 23 years’ service in local garment factories, and now works as an aide for UCP in Johnstown.
They enjoy playing bingo and spending time with their family.
They attend Maple Spring Church of the Brethren.
They are the parents of two children: Diana, wife of Anthony Temyer, Hoovers-ville, and Samuel, and special friend, Annette Klenk, Chesterton, Ind.
There are three grandsons: Jed, married to the former Allyson Bruce, and Luke, all of Hooversville, and Lance Cpl. Tyler Shields, U.S. Marines, stationed in Iraq.
There is a great-grandson, Jackson Bruce Temyer of Hooversville.
