Simanski couple note 50th date

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Simanski of Upper Yoder Township have noted their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children for family and friends at Dunmyer Lutheran Church, Elton.

Mr. Simanski and the former Jean Bloom were married Aug. 21, 1959, at Dunmyer Lutheran Church. The Rev. Walter S. Smith officiated.

Mr. Simanski was born in Johnstown, son of the late Emil and Ananell (Penrod) Simanski.

Mrs. Simanski is the daughter of the late Erwin L. and Hazel L. (Giffin) Bloom.

Mr. Simanski served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He worked at the Gautier Division, Bethlehem Steel Corp., and later transferred to the Rod and Wire Division, where he retired after 29 years’ service.

Mrs. Simanski worked in the cafeteria in the Westmont School District for 32 years.

They are the parents of three children: Melanie, wife of Barry Cameron, Johnstown; Timothy, Johnstown; and Carla Mikolich, and friend, Mike Rhodes, Virginia Beach, Va.

There are four grandchildren: Michael, Johnstown; Quinten, Slippery Rock; and Josh and Trista, Virginia Beach.
