Oleksas celebrate 60th anniversary

George and Catherine Oleksa of Johnstown celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner at Windber Country Club on May 25.
Mr. Oleksa and the former Catherine Mae Husla were married May 29, 1948, in Conemaugh by the Rev. John Kolcun.
Mr. Oleksa, son of Michael and Suzanna Oleksa, was born April 18, 1927, in Conemaugh.
Mrs. Oleksa, daughter of Michael and Anna Husla, was born May 24, 1929, in Johnstown.
Mr. Oleksa was employed for 35 years by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation.
He is a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He is a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus, and has been a cantor at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in Conemaugh for 65 years.
Mrs. Oleksa was employed by Penn Traffic Co. for 15 years. She also served as a Cambria County judge of elections in East Taylor Township for seven years.
They are the parents of four sons: George M. Oleksa, married to the former Robin Piechnik, Parkhill; Gary Oleksa, married to the former Nancy Diamond, Johnstown; David Oleksa, Aliquippa; and Kevin Oleksa, and fiance, Christine Williams, Johnstown.
There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
